Owl Creek Chase 2012 – Classic Races

The CBNT is over the mountains in Aspen at the 2012 Owl Creek Chase elite races. Both Forrest Smith and Prawit Durgan stretched their boundaries today in the classic races. The 15 year old J2 boys first toed the line in a supremely difficult 1.4km classic sprint race. After a bit of recovery and easy skiing, it was time for them to race the 10km classic distance event. Forrest and Prawit both skied smoothly and with control on the way to stellar results. Nice work guys. Sofia Deer and Sara Sherman also raced the 1.4km classic sprint. Both girls put out solid efforts and skied very well. Sofia then toed the line in the 5km classic race and battled hard on a beautiful day. Kai Sherman rounded out the results for the CBNT with a convincing win in the 3km classic. Nice work Kai. Sunday (tomorrow) will be the skate races, with Sofia skiing the entire 21km Owl Creek Chase from SnowMass to Aspen, and Sara, Prawit, and Forrest racing the 5km mass start skate. Coaches Duncan, Emma, and Lindsay will also be racing the full 21km as well. New snow in the forecast will make this an exciting day. Stoked. Stay tuned. Thanks for reading. DC.
